Civil cases that can be tried

Civil Cases admissible

1. A case for recovery of money due under any contract, receipt or other document.

2. A case for recovery of any movable property or for recovery of its value.

3. A case for recovery of possession of immovable property within one year of its dispossession.

4. A case for recovery of damages for forcible possession of or damage to any movable property.

5. A case for compensation for trespassing by cattle.

6. A case for recovery of wages and compensation payable to agricultural laborers.

7. A case for recovery of maintenance due to a wife.

Explanation: The provisions of this order shall be admissible in the Village Court in addition to the remedies provided by any other law and shall not affect the jurisdiction of any other law in force.

When the amount of money claimed or the value of the movable property or the value of the immovable property related to the crime or the amount of arrears of maintenance does not exceed 3 (three) lakh taka.
